Everyone is Eligible to Enter this Contest Including past Contestants (with the exception of the 2010 winners) Duet partners & Groups may register together as well! 

Qualifications and RULES: 

1.  Contestants must submit karaoke recordings either through karaoke recording websites (Such as The Karaoke Channel, MySpace Karaoke, YouTube, etc.).  You may also upload MP3s or video files of your recordings on the Karaoke~Idol social network (a.k.a. NING) at karaokeidol.ning.com. 

2.  You must be prepared to turn in two songs each week which will include: any song of your personal choice, and a Judge's song choice which will be picked for you. Contestants must understand that they may have to learn the Judge’s song choice if they are not already familiar with it.

  • Your song choice can be a pre-recorded song and must be turned in each Wednesday afternoon.
  • The Judge's choice MUST BE NEWLY-RECORDED and turned in each Thursday afternoon.

3.  You must turn in your song submissions on time by the required deadline.

4. All contestants are encouraged to join the NING network @ www.karaokeidol.ning.com.  This is so you can keep up with all the important details and updates, plus to stay in touch with the Karaoke Idol Community.

5.  The Judges are NOT allowed to advise you on what song choices you should submit. However, you may consult with the Music director in your Category for help with song choices, and you may also ask your Music Director to review your songs before you submit them and provide you with their opinions.   Please be sure to add the judges and music directors in your category to your friend list on NING.

6.  All participants must consent to Karaoke~Idol using their image and recorded performances for contest purposes, and agree to the possibility of their recordings being used at any time in promoting the Karaoke~Idol contest.

7. You must be able to take constructive criticism from the Judges!    

Disrespectful, harrassing or rude behavior toward any other contestant or Karaoke~Idol Krew member including judges, music directors, producers and show hosts will not be tolerated.  Professional conduct is a must.  A violation of this rule will result in immediate disqualification from the contest in progress and you may also be prohibited from participating in any other future Karaoke~Idol contests or events. 

This Contest is for entertainment purposes only with the benefits of prizes provided by our sponsors, and recognition from fans and talent scouts... So please be a good sport and be on your best behavior because you never know who is watching and listening. 

The Categories: 

There are four Categories: whichever Category you are placed in, you MUST stay within that genre during the contest unless you become a Twist contestant.  You will be placed into a category based on your audition entries or as needed. 

The four categories are:

  1. Country
  2. Pop/RB
  3. Rock
  4. Misc. (which includes genres such as folk, jazz, show tunes, gospel. etc. Any genre that is not categorized under the Country, Pop/RB, or Rock. If you have a question about whether or not a certain song is appropriate for this category, be sure and get in touch with your Music Director)

    There is also a fifth category called the Twist category.  You will automatically be placed into the Twist category if you are eliminated from any round of the seasonal contest. 

    • Twisters must turn in one newly recorded song each week due by Wednesday.  You may sing a song from any genre – when you are placed in the Twist, everyone is judged equally.  At the end of the seasonal contest, one Twist contestant will be voted back in by all 12 judges to compete with the other four finalists for the Karaoke~Idol title.

Karaoke~Idol Shows

      The Karaoke~Idol Spotlight Show

    Tune in each Monday night for the Karaoke~Idol Spotlight Show (KISS) for interviews with special guests, lots of laughs, important information, and a chance to earn extra points for a spot in the KI All-Stars competition where you can win Cash and prizes. The Spotlight is a pre-show for the Karaoke~Idol Result’s Show. 

      The Karaoke~Idol Results Show 

    The Results Show is where the Judges will Critique and Score you on both of your song entries each week. The first show of the season, the Judges will Not be Critiquing or scoring, but we will be announce the Top Contestants that will be going on to the second round. If you are not able to attend the results show on Monday nights you must notify us in advance.   
     

Fan Favorite Polls 

  • The Finalists will be eligible to compete in the Karaoke~Idol All-Stars in 2010... But if you do NOT make it to the finals you still have a chance to compete in All-Stars  by getting the most combined Fan Favorite votes each week. We will also have Bonus songs each week that is worth 20 points to go toward your votes. Bonus Songs are NOT required to stay in the contest... they are meant for extra points only for All-Stars.
 
  • Fan Favorite voting polls and bonus points will NOT help you win the Karaoke~Idol contest… it’s an additional way for contestants to participate in the 2010 All-Stars competition.  Votes and bonus points do NOT apply to your scores from the judges.

 
The Chat Room 

  • The Chat Room is open to all of the Contestants, Family and Friends.  
    The Stickam Chat has the option of Audio, Video or regular Chat.
  • We use the Chat for Entertainment if you would like to come and sing, but you must register an account with www.Stickam.com if you want to use the video, audio and private messaging features. 
  • Please feel free to come by and the Chat room for any help if you need it.... or refer to the “HELP” page on the Karaoke~Idol NING Network.
